How To Eat Better And Spend Less

Most American workers have not seen a wage boost in a while. But the price of anything continues to inflate. Some food costs have jumped as a result of climate change, drought and political factors. But consumers can take some good steps to drastically reduce those food costs, and eat better simultaneously.

First food cost cut

When you go out to eat, you do not know what is in your meal and it is oftentimes really unhealthy. If you cook and eat at home, it is typically much healthier. You will also save a lot of money.

If time is an issue, you can usually get a crockpot. It takes about two minutes to throw some vegetables and meat in the crockpot for a scrumptious meal later.

Beef is expensive

Instead of making beef the center of every meal, you can just put it into your food or have a vegetarian meal once a week. You will get much healthier and possibly lose weight with the change. Do not go vegan, but try reducing back a little.

Take advantage of non-organic food

By avoiding organic food, you will save a ton of cash. A lot of people think that organic food is the only way to go because it is really healthy, but there's actually no evidence to support organic food being any healthier than any food. On top of that, it is always a lot more costly than commercially grown food. Consider frozen vegetables; they will last longer and have more nutrition sometimes.

Water to drink

Keep your body replenished at all expenses by drinking a lot of water. Do not waste cash on water bottles; just get filtered tap water. That is generally the cheapest way to go. You will keep away from all the additional calories associated with soda pop and sugary drinks, and also you will stay replenished.

Never drink alcohol at home if you want to start saving to. Only do it socially.

Save with no commercially prepared foods

There are many people who like commercially prepared foods, but they are pretty costly and not very healthy. Just make food at home from scratch.

Make lists and plan menus

You can save a lot of money by preparing your meals for the week instead of just guessing each day. You might want to prepare two weeks at a time to be able to go with your payday. Look in the pantry at what you already have, and go shopping for the rest. Always use a list whenever you are shopping and stick to it. If it is not on the list, you cannot get it.

Go to a stockroom such as Costco or Sam's Club if you want to lower warehouse expenses even more.

Do not go out at lunch

It is healthier to make a lunch at home instead of going out, so make sure you do that whenever possible.

Think to the future

You can plant a garden and get other people to do it too. This will help you save a variety of money, particularly if you exchange with friends.
